Worlds Best Beaches

Pink Beach in Barbuda, Antigua runs for 17 miles.  A typical Robinsoe Crusoe type island made from pink coral, it is often deserted which is a shame because it is unbelievably beautiful.  Codrington is the only village on the island and although is seems like stepping back in time, the local people extend a huge welcome and crime is unheard of.For the nature lover, although Barbuda is small, the famous frigate bird sanctaury is home to over 160 species of birds. The Beach House is a luxury hotel but although small the hospitality is first-class and the Barbudan lobster is even better!

Base yourself in La Paz, to experience another great beach namely Isla Espiritu Santo, Baja California Sur in Mexico. Unihabited, this beach is idyllic with its bright turquoise sea and contrasting white sands you will think you have eventually arrived in paradise. At Los Islotes, why not try a snorkel with the sea-lions!

How about India for another gorgeous beach.  Kovalam Beach in Kerala is known as the Paradise of the South and there is no question as to how or why it has gained this name. This crescent-shaped beach, lined with coconut trees has a mosque and one end and the brightly-painted fishing boats in the middle.  If you fancy total relaxation try a Ayurvedic massage in one of the many centres. For a stay right on the beach try one of the 106 rooms in the Leela Kovalam Beach Resort.

One cannot talk about beautiful beaches without a reference to the Philippines.  Known as the Island Born of Fire, Camiguin is home to the White Island Beach where you can sit on the incredibly white sands and admire views of two volcanoes. The eco-friendly Enigmata Treehouse offers biodiversity seminars.

What about Brazil I hear you say.  Three hours from Rio de Janeiro, Ilha Grande is a small island which is home to the stunning Praia da Lopes Mendes.  The access to the beach takes you through Atlantic forests thick with hummingbirds and tropical flowers and Pygmy and Holy monkeys run around your feet.  The soft sand on the beach is irresistable and a stay at the beautiful Sitio do Lobo makes the visit complete in every way.

For more white sands and perfect water, Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Islands in Queensland, Australia is a tiny island which is part of the Great Barrier Reef.  Almost pure quartz sand there is nothing better than the amaxinf experience of swimming with the multi-coloured fish or observing the humpback whales as they migrate.  For an organic bed and breakfast try Airlie Beach for meditation, total relaxation and organic meals.

By far the most beautiful beach in Britain is the soft, sandy Oxwich Bay in the Gower Peninsula in Wales.  Safe swimming in the summer, The Gower was Britain’s very first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for its many unspoilt bays. Choose self-catering holiday accommodation for a relaxing and cost effective way of experiencing this pretty area.

Africa can also compete in the best beach stakes. Guludo Beach, Quirimbas Peninsula, Mozambique is another fine white sanded beach where humpback whales can be seen between June and October or you can climb a hill and watch elephants in the sunset.  The largest crabs in the world can be found on the Isle of Rolas.  Eco-friendly beachfront bandas offer fantastic seafood - perfect!.

Greece perhaps unsurprisingly also features on the list of best beaches. Super Paradise Beach in Mykonos is located 9km from town and reached by boat.  Super Paradise is hedonistic and an attractive destination for gay travellers.  The glamorous luxury of the Theoxenia Hotel comes well recommended.

Perhaps most famous for deep-sea diving, the Red Sea, the beach at Eilat can also work as a family holiday.  From the beach you can enjoy the red mountains of Petra or take a safari trip by truck, camel or horse!  The Dan Eilat Hotel offers the best dinner buffet in town.
