The Spanish enjoy the Lottery more than any other Europeans. The Loteria Nacional runs prize draws most Saturdays, plus a few special ones, the ‘extraordinarios’ of which the biggest is El Gordo (which means ‘the Fat One’), at Christmas. In order to enter and win El Gordo,you must be a resident of Spain and purchase your ticket within the country.

It is common to buy a decimo (one tenth of a number), rather than a full ticket. Players can also try their luck with the ONCE lottery, which has draws daily, the twice-weekly Loteria Primitivia, and the Bono-loto with four draws a week!
